Hey, my name is 沙門. That's what I call myself. I'm the administrator of this weblog.
沙門 is "Śramaṇa" in Sanskrit and it means "seeker, one who performs acts of austerity, ascetic".
I love cars, computers, new experiences, and that first sip and smell of coffee in the morning that comes close to convincing you which all is right with the world.
When I find the time, I write here about the shiny, sparkly things that catch my eye. You might enjoy reading about software, Macs, gadgets or my love for SUBARU.
I was born in Fukuoka, in Western Japan, and grew up in Dazaifu (大宰府). Dazaifu was founded in the late 7th century and served as the administrative center for the entire island of Kyushu for over 500 years. Dazaifu played a central role to Japan's diplomatic relations and the organization of the country's defense. Today, Dazaifu is a small, quiet town on the outskirts of Fukuoka. But I could feel the history there.
When I was seventeen, I found out that we could buy computers for home use. Since then, I have fascinated with computers. And for more than 30 years, I worked as a systems engineer in one of the largest computer companies. In 2021, I transitioned to a cloud computing service provider and am currently working as a cloud solutions architect.
In the spring of 2023, I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. I will eventually succumb to this disease, but until then, I will continue to write about my daily life on this weblog.
